Natalie Johnson

Travel Designer

With a heart rooted in London for the past 15 years, I originally hail from the charming seaside town of Cleethorpes in Lincolnshire. Since my early days, the allure of travel has captivated me, and my fondest childhood memory revolves around a delightful 3-week journey across Canada with my family.

Years ago, I embraced a life-changing adventure, bidding farewell to my job at the Guardian and embarking on a transformative 7-month journey through Australia, immersing myself in work and exploration. Fuelled by wanderlust, I then embarked on a soul-stirring solo backpacking odyssey spanning 3 months in the enchanting realms of South East Asia.

Solo travel holds a special place in my heart, offering an unparalleled opportunity to forge profound connections with countries and cultures while meeting a plethora of fascinating souls along the way. Each journey has allowed me to unravel the beauty and essence of different lands on a deeper level. Now, as a dedicated travel designer, I endeavor to share my passion and expertise with fellow adventurers, curating personalised experiences that unveil the world’s wonders.

Middle East

The best destination for families

Egypt

For families, especially those with older children, Egypt is a destination that offers something for everyone. As well as an abundance of history and delicious food, there are some great beach resorts for families in the Red Sea. A cruise along the Nile, the world's longest river is a fun way to discover its ancient archaeological sites.

My top tips

Petra by night, already breathtaking by day, takes its magnificence to a whole new level of beauty when this wonder of the world is illuminated under the night sky.

While floating in the Dead Sea, be cautious not to get the water in your eyes as it can be extremely painful.

When visiting the pyramids, keep in mind that going inside can be quite claustrophobic, so it's best to proceed only if you feel comfortable with confined spaces!

Given the warmth of the Middle East region, I highly recommend carrying a refillable water bottle to stay refreshed throughout your journey.
