At a glance

Fifteen days, three countries and a once in a lifetime adventure, experiencing a selection of sub-Saharan Africa’s highlights in luxury and style.

Begin in Kenya, with a night at one of Nairobi’s charming hotels before flying out to the Maasai Mara. A legendary spot for safari, especially so if we time your trip to coincide with the annual Great Migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra. Whether you choose to stay in a Hemingway-esque camp in the midst of the savannah or a sumptuous lodge overlooking it all, the wildlife experience here is exceptional, and you can look forward to heading out on game drives guided by red-wrapped Maasai warriors, a spectacular hot air balloon flight and more.

Return to Nairobi (with a visit to the wonderful Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage) before flying south to the Zambian town of Livingstone which sits beside the thundering waters of Victoria Falls. Explore both the Zambian and Zimbabwean sides of the falls, soar above them aboard a helicopter and spot hippos wallowing in the Zambezi on a sunset river cruise.

End in Cape Town, one of our favourite cites in the world. You’ll try exciting street food, scan incredible mountain views, see penguins, spend some inspirational time spent with our supported community project and have an indulgent day sampling the produce of the Winelands.

With a multi-layered history spanning some 500 years, Robben Island offers a unique glimpse into events that have shaped South Africa. You’ll catch a ferry from the Nelson Mandela Gateway at the V&A Waterfront and once you reach the island you’ll be accompanied by a private guide on a bus tour to all of the important historical sites.

The tour includes the graveyard that dates back to when the island served as a leper colony, the Lime Quarry where prisoners were put to work, Robert Sobukwe’s house, the Bluestone Quarry, the army and navy bunkers and the maximum security prison where thousands of South Africa’s freedom fighters were incarcerated for years. The tour culminates with a stirring visit to Nelson Mandela’s cell. The guides inside the prison itself are former political prisoners who are extremely knowledgeable about the island’s past.

Full day privately guided tour of the Winelands Full day privately guided tour of the Winelands

Today you have a full day in the Winelands with one of our expert wine guides. We will communicate your wine preferences before the tour, so that your guide has time to set up any special appointments. That way, you will have the best experience possible. Typically the regions explored are Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl, but this depends on your wine tastes. On a usual tour, the first stop is Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa, with canal-lined avenues, and magnificent examples of Cape Dutch architecture. Next head over the scenic Helshoogte Pass to Franschhoek, founded by French Huguenots over 350 years ago. It's lovely setting and café lined streets will charm you and afford the opportunity to do some shopping too.
