At a glance

Discover crown jewels of both Peru and Ecuador on this stunning two-week luxury trip from the heights of the Andes, where you visit Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu, to the beautiful Galapagos Islands off the coast of Ecuador.

Begin with one night in the Peruvian capital, Lima, a fantastic place to be introduced to the warm people and fabulous food that the country is renowned for, then fly into the mountainous interior for some adventure while acclimatising to the altitude. Visit vibrant local markets and see lesser known Inca ruins with your private guide before boarding a train to the legendary remained of Machu Picchu. Your guide will really bring this iconic sight to life. Return the next day to climb either Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain for a unique perspective.

Take the train to the nearby city of Cusco, a fascinating place where opulent colonial Spanish architecture sits on top intricate Inca stonework. Spend three nights here, being shown around the terracotta old town and the bustling food market before a culinary masterclass.

Fly north to another colonial gem – Ecuador’s spectacularly set capital, Quito, where you’ll learn about Andean traditions, its history and meet local artisans. Then end your trip on a high aboard a luxury yacht in the Galapagos. During your four night cruise, hop between the unique islands of the archipelago, getting up close and personal with their incredible, iconic wildlife inhabitants such as giant tortoises, Darwin’s finches and marine iguanas, and snorkelling with sea lions, turtles and penguins.

The luxury trip to Peru and the Galapagos has been designed to make the most of your visit to South America, allowing time to see these highlights in depth, in comfort and travelling at a relaxed pace.

The most famous of several short walks around Machu Picchu, the climb up the steep mountain of Huayna Picchu is located at the back of the ruins. At first glance, it appears a difficult climb but, despite the steep ascent, it's not technically that hard. The scramble, which takes anything from 45 to 90 minutes, takes you through a short section of Inca tunnel. The fabulous views from the top are definitely worth the huffing and puffing, even for trekkers just stumbling in off the Inca Trail.
